I don't know the textbook definition for psychopathic behavior or anything. But yeah, Dean's behavior here is definitely not okay, and I was certainly aiming for people's reactions to be 'This Dean is seriously fucked up. Does he understand how to relate to other people at all?'
I'm really glad that the coercion worked for you, and so pleased that you commented on the way the scene built. It was one of the hardest scenes to write ever, (for some reason). I cannot even tell you how many times I had to rework it.
